Dear Friends of Belcourt Castle

Thank you for joining me in the preservation effort of this historic castle on Bellevue Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island. For more than fifty years the Tinney Family has created magic for millions of guests by opening their doors to visitors.

What Oliver Belmont began in 1891 when his father August Belmont died, continued to evolve through the changes made by his wife Alva Erskine Smith Vanderbilt, and is now a vibrant home filled with collections of antiques and a new spirit.

On your visit I hope you will imagine yourself living in a place where the outside world stops and all is calm and beautiful. When you come to our ghost tours or champagne candlelight tours, I will likely be here to share my stories of the nine lives of Belcourt and how we plan to preserve the dream for future generations.
