The Royal Arts Foundation

Mission Statement

Prepared by Stephen Federico, Director of Museum Services since 2006

The Mission of the Royal Arts Foundation is to collect, preserve and maintain art objects and antiquities from a multitude of cultures without prejudice, and to display them in a historic house museum known as Belcourt Castle. The museum is open to the general public on a regular basis and provides educational tours, special performances and lectures.

Our hands-on approach to education has included stained glass workshops conducted by the Tinney Family, who owned the oldest stained glass studio in Rhode Island, second oldest in America. Through a recent collaboration and partnership with Roger Williams University School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation, students have used Belcourt as a preservation/restoration laboratory. A major project completed by five students included the restoration of the Royal Arts Foundation’s gold coronation coach in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the museum at Belcourt Castle.

The Royal Arts Foundation Community Activities

Belcourt Castle since 1958 is serving as a cultural; center for the community by providing lectures, concerts, performances and recital that focus on International, national and local artists.
